Fans can be powered by the receiver (5v - 8.4) depending on ESC or by a Lipo 3S(12v) Or 4s(16v) battery balance charging port. Battery Voltage must be monitored regularly as the fans may cause damage to the battery. Easy way to tell is to pay attention to the sound of the fans when fully charged. The pitch will change once batteries starts to get low. There are over 100 different model 40mm server fans out there. Most are not as powerful and durable. Most cannot handle 16v (4s) as well.
